Is Chainfolio free to use?

Yes, Chainfolio is completely free. It is a browser-native application — no subscription, no freemium tier, and no account required. Simply open the app and start tracking.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Chainfolio has no concept of 'users'. There is no account creation, no email collection, and no KYC. The app runs entirely in your browser with no server-side authentication.

Where is my data stored?

All your data — wallets, transactions, snapshots, and settings — is stored exclusively in your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage. No server ever receives your data. Clearing your browser data permanently deletes it.

What blockchains does Chainfolio support?

Chainfolio has full support for Ethereum and Solana, including native tokens, staking positions, and full transaction history. Smart chain detection automatically classifies transactions (transfers, swaps, stakes, NFTs).

Do I need to connect my wallet?

No. Chainfolio supports watch-only mode — paste any public wallet address to track balances and transactions without any wallet connection. You can also connect via 31 supported browser wallet adapters (Phantom, Solflare, Ledger, and more).

What wallet adapters are supported?

Chainfolio supports 31 Solana wallet adapters including Phantom, Solflare, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger, Trust Wallet, Trezor, MathWallet, Coin98, Nightly, Particle, SafePal, and 20 more. The app only reads the public key — it never accesses private keys.

Do I need API keys or RPC endpoints?

Chainfolio ships with no hardcoded API keys. You provide your own RPC endpoints for Ethereum and Solana (Alchemy, Ankr, Helius, etc.) and optional Etherscan API key for higher rate limits. DexScreener and DeFiLlama are used without API keys.

Does Chainfolio track my analytics or usage?

Absolutely not. Chainfolio has zero telemetry — no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no crash reporters, no cookies sent to third parties. It is architecturally impossible for Chainfolio to observe your usage.

Does Chainfolio have a whale tracking feature?

Yes, Chainfolio includes Whale Watcher – a smart money radar with a pre‑loaded directory of top traders, funds, and founders. Track wallets like Vitalik Buterin, Justin Sun, Wintermute, and high‑PnL anonymous traders with one‑click whale tracking.

Does Chainfolio support background alerts?

Yes, Chainfolio provides serverless background alerts via push notifications for portfolio changes, balance thresholds, token price moves, and RPC health degradation. Runs even when the app is closed via Capacitor Background Runner and Service Workers.

Is there a mobile app for Chainfolio?

Yes, Chainfolio is built with Capacitor and runs as a native iOS/Android app with full access to background sync and push notifications. The UI adapts with sidebar on desktop and intuitive bottom navigation on mobile.

This Privacy Policy explains how Chainfolio (chain-folio.com) handles your information. The short answer: we don’t collect any of it on our servers.

1. Our Core Privacy Principle

Chainfolio is architected from the ground up to be privacy-sovereign. The application runs entirely in your browser. Unless you explicitly choose to connect your own personal cloud storage (like Google Drive) for backups, everything stays entirely on your device.

No accounts. No sign-up. No email. No KYC.
No analytics trackers (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, etc.).
No server ever receives your portfolio data, wallet addresses, or settings.

2. Data You Store Locally

When you use Chainfolio without cloud synchronization, your data is stored exclusively in your browser’s IndexedDB and localStorage:

Wallet addresses (public keys only)
Transaction history fetched from your RPC provider
Portfolio snapshots and net worth timeseries
Application settings and preferences

Chainfolio has no access to this data. It never leaves your device unless you authorize a backup.

3. What Chainfolio Does NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or process:

Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
Your IP address, geographic location, or usage patterns
Your API keys or RPC endpoints

4. Google Drive Integration & API Usage (Optional)

Chainfolio offers an optional feature to backup and synchronize your portfolio data across devices using your personal Google Drive. To enable this, Chainfolio requests access to your Google Drive via Google’s API.

When you authorize this connection:

Access and Use: Chainfolio only accesses Google Drive to read, write, and modify the specific backup files created by the application itself. It does not access, read, or manage any other personal files in your Drive.
Storage: The backup files are stored securely in your own Google Drive account. Chainfolio does not store any of your Google Drive data, authentication tokens, or backup files on our own servers. Data flows directly between your browser and Google’s servers.
No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share your Google Drive data or backups with any third parties, advertising networks, or AI models.
Google API Services User Data Policy: Chainfolio’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Third-Party Data Sources (Outbound Requests)

To display portfolio data, your browser directly fetches data from third-party services (Your RPC Provider, DexScreener, DeFiLlama). These requests originate from your browser, not from any Chainfolio server. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these services.

6. Cookies

Chainfolio does not set any cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Your browser may store session data (such as Google OAuth state if you use the Drive integration) as a standard function of the web platform.

7. Data Portability and Deletion

Export: You can manually export your complete dataset at any time.
Deletion (Local): Clear your browser’s site data for chain-folio.com.
Deletion (Google Drive): You can delete your Chainfolio backup files directly from your Google Drive or revoke Chainfolio’s access in your Google Account Security settings. We have no copies of your data to delete on our end.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
